Pieces of the Marketing Puzzle

Lego
(Check out my latest!)

I love the challenge of figuring out how everything fits together.  Maybe it’s the inner child in me, but I LOVE to build Lego sets.  In the last couple years, I’ve probably built about fifteen Lego sets ranging from airplanes, to a classic VW to a shopping mall. It’s a challenge (most with over 2,000 pieces), and best of all, it’s a puzzle that I just HAVE to figure out.

At Upright, I love the challenge of how everything fits together in our client’s “Marketing Puzzle”.  One piece depends on the other.  You may be found in search engines, but if your site isn’t persuasive and doesn’t encourage your prospects to contact you, you’re missing a piece.  And if your site does persuade your prospects to call you but you let your phone ring and ring, you’re missing a piece.  Just like Legos, there are a lot of pieces to this marketing puzzle that have to work together:

  • Get Found – search engines, directories, Facebook….make sure your name is out there.
  • Be Persuasive – on your site, “ask for the order”!  Make sure you have a “call to action” on every page.
  • Visual design– a clean and simple design is all you need!  Be sure not to overwhelm your visitor.
  • Meaningful content– content is king! Providing helpful information about your company, products and services is key.  And not only what you offer, but why you’re the best choice!
  • Contact information– is it easy to contact you? Or do users have to search all over the place to find your phone number?
  • FAQ’s– users are typically on the search for specific products and services, so be sure to provide an area that they can refer to for frequently asked questions.  It makes them feel more confident that you have their best interests at heart.
  • Testimonials and Case Studies– let others know how great you really are!
  • Social media integration– Integrating social media logos into your site not only helps your SEO, but it also boosts your businesses footprint online.
  • Mobile ready version– everyone seems to be on their phones these days, make sure your site is responsive so that it will adapt to the screen on which it’s being browsed.

If you can fit all of the above pieces of the marketing puzzle together, you’ll really have a masterpiece!

P.S. — Lego nerds all over the world (adults and children alike) seem to keep pushing the envelope… No longer are people buying just boxed products with directions, but they’re designing their own cities, a 35-pound aircraft carrier, the Statue of Liberty, a guitar, and the list goes ON AND ON!  And just recently, the internet salutes the world record setting Lego tower (check out the video) that reaches over 112 feet.  Enjoy!
