2020 – A Year to be Thankful in the Midst of Uncertainty

For many, this Thanksgiving will seem much different than the holiday has traditionally been in the past. Faces will be missing from family celebrations and groups gathered at the table will be significantly smaller.

Political turmoil, a health crisis, and an uncertain economy may have many of us feeling somewhat lost and fearful in a way we’ve not experienced before. While times like these are trying, they also offer us an opportunity to be grateful. Even if that means we have to look a little harder to find the things for which we can be thankful. (more…)

Honoring Those Who Served and Sacrificed: The 75th Anniversary of D-Day

Today is a day of remembrance. June 6, 2019 is the 75th anniversary of Allied forces invasion on the beaches of Normandy, France. This decisive operation marked a turning point in World War II, giving the Allied forces a strong foothold in the battle against occupying Nazi Germany.

The Army’s D-Day history website provides an overview of this event:

“The Normandy beaches were chosen by planners because they lay within range of air cover, and were less heavily defended than the obvious objective of the Pas de Calais, the shortest distance between Great Britain and the Continent. Airborne drops at both ends of the beachheads were to protect the flanks, as well as open up roadways to the interior. Six divisions were to land on the first day; three U.S., two British and one Canadian. Two more British and one U.S. division were to follow up after the assault division had cleared the way through the beach defenses. (more…)

Upright Communications Internship | Final Post | Entry 4

digital marketingWrapping up the Upright Communications intern series, I can safely say it’s been a semester for the books! Over the past fourteen weeks, I’ve been able to further build out my knowledge in the digital marketing industry, witness ongoing agency and client relationships, and obtain a strong sense of what an Account Manager position entails.

As the semester comes to a close and I say my goodbyes to the team, I’ve discovered three crucial skill sets I will need to bring with me into other internships and jobs.

Do Your Research

Whether you’re pitching to a potential client, preparing to re-design your website, or even writing content for your website, you need to perform necessary research. Nobody is going to buy into your sales pitch if you aren’t even willing to appropriately prepare yourself. (more…)

What We’re Thankful For

Give ThanksWith Thanksgiving and other holidays right around the corner, the Upright Team got to thinking and realized there’s so much to be grateful for. Of course, we are passionate about digital marketing and website optimization, but if it wasn’t for our exceptional clients our jobs just wouldn’t be the same. Working with invested, curious, and impressive individuals make our day-to-day interactions all that more exciting and fun.
