5 Ways to Use Twitter to Get More Customers

Today on the ShoeMoney Blog there was a great post by Brian Norgard called “5 Ways To Find & Acquire Customers On Twitter“. I recommend that you click over and read his blog post. But first, we’ll summarize what Brian said here, and add a few comments of our own on a few great ways to use Twitter to help create more contacts and expand your customer base.

1. Twitter Search – Use http://search.twitter.com to learn more about your customers and what people are saying about your products, services or brand. Then, in a non-pushy way, offer an answer to their question, a link to what they’re looking for, or some other useful tips or advice. Be a good listener and you will create a good name for yourself and/or your company.

2. Find the Influencers in Your Vertical – Find and follow users on Twitter who share the same interests, are in the same industry, discuss similar topics as you, etc. If you can get some of the people who have lots of followers to Tweet “at” you, then all of their followers will see your user name. Some of them may want to know who you are, and could end up following you and your updates as well. This is a great way to build a relevant base of followers who will be interested in what you have to say.

3. Make Your Profile Relevant – In your user settings for your Twitter account, make sure you link to your web site, and use keywords in your bio that describe what you do and what your company is about.

4. Make your Twitter URL Relevant – When you setup your account, you have the ability to setup a user name. Make it keyword rich and relevant. It builds trust, and improves your chances of ranking somewhere in a search result. For example, our Twitter URL is twitter.com/UprightSEO. Another catchy Twitter URL that we like is twitter.com/KeepinItGreen for a local lawncare business here in Cincinnati called “Keeping It Green”.

5. Include Twitter URL In Your Contact Info – Make sure you put your Twitter URL in your email signature, on your business card, even on your contact page of your web site.

These are great tips on how you can use Twitter to build a customer base online – thanks again to Brian Norgard for sharing this information. With all of the social media sites out there, you have many options and avenues for promoting yourself and gaining more customers. Don’t miss out on any of these opportunities!
